Shri Ayodhya Dham — Complete Spiritual & Sacred Sightseeing Guide

Step into the eternal abode of Bhagwan Shri Ram along the holy Saryu River. Discover sacred temples, ancient history, darshan timings, and divine ghats.

Ayodhya Dham, situated on the sacred banks of the Saryu River in Uttar Pradesh, is one of the seven holiest cities (Mokshadaayani Saptapuri) in Sanatan Dharma. Known worldwide as the divine birthplace of Bhagwan Shri Ram, Ayodhya is a land steeped in Vedic heritage, devotion, and monumental architectural grandeur.

Whether you are seeking spiritual solace, architectural splendor, or divine darshan at the newly consecrated Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, this guide takes you through every revered temple and sacred landmark of Ayodhya Dham.

1. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir

The crown jewel of Ayodhya Dham, the magnificent Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir stands gracefully in the traditional Nagara style of Hindu temple architecture. Built entirely without iron or steel, the 3-tiered temple structure features 392 sculpted pillars and 44 teakwood doors carved with traditional divine motifs.

🕐 Temple & Aarti Timings:

  • Darshan Timings: 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Morning) & 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM (Evening).
  • Mangala Aarti: 4:30 AM (Requires prior official pass).
  • Shringar Aarti: 6:30 AM (Requires prior official pass).
  • Sandhya Aarti: 7:30 PM (Requires prior official pass).

2. Hanuman Garhi Mandir

According to tradition, pilgrims must first visit Hanuman Garhi to seek the blessings of Lord Hanuman before visiting Shri Ram Janmabhoomi. Built as a 10th-century hill fort accessible via 76 wide stone steps, this temple enshrines Lord Hanuman seated in the lap of Mata Anjani, guarding Ayodhya Dham.

3. Kanak Bhawan (Golden Palace)

Also known as Sone Ka Ghar, Kanak Bhawan was gifted to Mata Sita by Queen Kaikeyi upon her marriage to Lord Ram. The temple houses exquisite golden-crowned idols of Shri Ram and Mata Sita, set amidst serene arched courtyards and melodious bhajan recitations.

4. Saryu Ghat & Ram Ki Paidi

The holy Saryu River is central to Ayodhya's spiritual life. Every evening at 6:30 PM, the riverbank transforms into a celestial spectacle during the Saryu Maha Aarti at Ram Ki Paidi, accompanied by brass oil lamps, rhythmic chants, and mesmerizing water fountains.

5. Nageshwarnath Mandir & Guptar Ghat

Established by Shri Ram's son Kush, Nageshwarnath Mandir is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is the central focus during Mahashivratri. Further along the river lies Guptar Ghat, the sacred spot where Bhagwan Ram took Jal Samadhi to return to Vaikuntha Dham.
